Job Title: Bartender

Location: Aaliya's Books, Gemmayzeh

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate bartender to join our team at Aaliya's Books. The bartender will play a key role in enhancing the overall customer experience by crafting and serving a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, specialty drinks, and alcoholic beverages. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for delivering outstanding service to our patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and serve a diverse range of beverages, including coffee, tea, espresso-based drinks, cocktails, and mocktails, according to established recipes and quality standards.

2. Provide friendly, attentive, and personalized service to all customers, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.

3. Engage with customers in a professional and courteous manner, offering recommendations, answering questions, and providing information about our menu offerings and events.

4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including equipment, tools, and supplies, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.

5. Monitor inventory levels of beverages, ingredients, and supplies, and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to management.

6. Prepare and process customer orders accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic payments, and maintaining accurate transaction records.

7. Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely service during peak hours and special events.

8. Uphold Aaliya's Books' brand values and uphold a professional image at all times, representing our brand with integrity and enthusiasm.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a bartender in a similar setting, preferably in a café bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment.

- Extensive knowledge of beverage preparation techniques, including espresso extraction, cocktail mixing, and drink garnishing.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.

- Exceptional customer service skills, with a genuine passion for creating memorable experiences for patrons.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards related to food and beverage service.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

We operate a lively café bar (Aaliya's Books) and a dedicated Lebanese wine bar (Aaliya's Wines). At both establishments, we strive to serve simple but flavourful international café-style dishes elevated by Lebanese flavours and flair. We are committed to sourcing our ingredients from sustainable, local suppliers. We are currently seeking an experienced, creative and passionate head chef to join our team and lead our kitchen in continued success.

Job Overview:

As the head chef at Aaliya's Books  and Aaliya's Wines, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen's operations, including menu planning, food preparation, cooking, kitchen management, and menu costing. You will work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow, adherence to food safety standards, and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Menu Planning and Development:

- Create innovative and appealing menus that reflect culinary trends, Lebanese flavors, seasonal ingredients, and guest preferences.

- Collaborate with management to develop menu concepts, pricing strategies, and special promotions.

2. Food Preparation and Cooking:

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, main dishes, and desserts, according to established recipes and quality standards.

- Ensure all food items are cooked to perfection, properly seasoned, and presented attractively.

3. Kitchen Management:

- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff.

- Train new staff members on proper cooking techniques, food handling procedures, and kitchen safety protocols.

- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to sanitation and hygiene standards at all times.

4. Menu Costing:

- Calculate the cost of ingredients for menu items, taking into account portion sizes, ingredient prices, and recipe yields.

- Analyze menu profitability and make recommendations for pricing adjustments or menu changes to optimize profitability while maintaining value for customers.

- Work closely with management to establish food cost targets and monitor actual costs against budgeted targets.

- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable pricing and sourcing agreements for high-quality ingredients.

5. Quality Control:

- Conduct regular inspections of food items to ensure freshness, quality, and adherence to recipe specifications.

- Address any concerns or issues related to food quality or presentation promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a chef in a high-volume restaurant or culinary establishment.

- Strong culinary skills and proficiency in a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines.

- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen sanitation.

- Creative flair and passion for culinary arts, with a dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Education and Certification:

- Degree or diploma in culinary arts or a related field preferred.

- Food safety training is a plus.

Salary and Benefits:

- Up to $2,000 per month depending on experience and qualifications.
